Cernobbio: very closed to Como, for sure worth a visit.
If you love walking, you can reach Cernobbio by foot from Como, just following the promenade lakeside that from Villa Olmo will take you to Cernobbio main square in ca half an hour.
The small square facing the lake and the elegant promenade are only a small part of this town.
To visit: the sixteenth-century Villa d’Este, now transformed into a luxury hotel, and the nineteenth-century Villa Erba, where Luchino Visconti stayed.
Bellagio: The “pearl of Lake Como” is a small town facing the lake. This town is located at the point where the 3 branches of Lake Como meet. In the 19th century it lived an era of pomp and splendor, becoming the favorite tourist destination of the Lombard nobility and upper middle class. Even today it maintains its status as an internationally renowned tourist destination. To visit: Villa Serbelloni and Villa Melzi.
Moltrasio, Carate Urio and Laglio: a short but interesting itinerary to consider on Lake Como is the one following the Strada Regina Vecchia, the old route of the lake, crossing this three small and fascinating towns.
Arriving in Laglio, get involved with gossip and rumors and look for Villa Oleandra: ancient residence bought in 2002 by George Clooney.
Menaggio: small town in front of Bellagio, appreciated for the lakeside promenade decorated with colorful flower small areas.
The village is small but picturesque: it is suggested to be included in an on the road itinerary along the western shore of the Lario (another name for Lake Como).
Tremezzina: is one of the bigger and amazing town of the western shore of lake Como.
Rich in history, art and culture, it also offers one of the most panoramic sceneries of the central part of the lake: the Comacina Island, the only island of Lake Como, the wooded promontory of Dosso del Lavedo with the marvelous villa del Balbianello, the Sacro Monte di Ossuccio, a UNESCO heritage site, the view of the Bellagio promontory that rises towards Monte San Primo and the mountains in the background, among which the two famous peaks of Grigna and Grignetta stand out, particularly evocative at sunset.
The municipality of Tremezzina includes the villages of Ossuccio, Lenno, Mezzegra and Tremezzo with their characteristic historic centers, splendid villas and gardens, Romanesque and Baroque churches and promenades along the lakeside.
Places that worth a visit: Villa Carlotta, Villa del Balbianello, Isola Comacina, the Telesio Olivelli park and the Greenway of Lake Como, a walk that entirely crosses Tremezzina.
